How will therapy help me?
We believe in a comprehensive and integrative approach to trauma recovery (and therapy in general). In addition to talk therapy approaches, we are excited to offer Brainspotting, EMDR, and IFS therapy as well. These cutting-edge therapies are proven to be highly effective in treating trauma and can help you experience profound healing and transformation.
Primary Treatment Methods
-
EMDR is a powerful therapeutic modality used to address and resolve past traumatic experiences or negative memories. EMDR sessions are strategically designed to accelerate the processing of these experiences, reducing their impact on depressive symptoms. The therapist guides the individual through bilateral stimulation, typically involving eye movements, which facilitates the brain's natural ability to heal.
-
Brainspotting is a targeted approach to identify and process neurophysiological sources of emotional and physical pain. This modality acknowledges that specific eye positions (brainspots) correlate with unprocessed trauma or distressing experiences. Brainspotting allows for a concentrated exploration of these spots, expediting the release of stored trauma. This focused approach enhances the effectiveness of Brainspotting, enabling individuals to make significant strides in emotional healing and symptom reduction. Beyond mental health symptomology, brainspotting is also effective in treating chronic physical, mental and situational or personal challenges.
-
IFS sessions are tailored to swiftly delve into the various parts of the individual's internal system, fostering self-compassion and self-understanding. The therapist guides the client in identifying and interacting with different aspects of their psyche, facilitating a transformative process. By integrating IFS into the treatment plan, individuals experience a profound shift in their emotional well-being and gain valuable insights into the intricate interplay of their internal dynamics.
-

Common Questions About Starting Therapy
-
Therapy sessions typically involve discussing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained therapist. The therapist will provide a supportive environment for you to explore your concerns and work towards your goals.
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly, but this can vary based on your needs and the recommendation of your therapist. Some people may benefit from more frequent sessions, especially at the beginning of therapy.
-
The duration of therapy varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people may only need a few sessions to address a specific issue, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy for ongoing support and personal growth.
-
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision. It can be helpful to consider factors such as the therapist's experience, approach to therapy, and whether you feel comfortable and supported during your initial consultation.
Our experienced therapists provide compassionate, holistic care and are prepared to support you through the challenges that brought you here.

Yes, therapy can be beneficial for anyone seeking support and personal growth, regardless of whether they have a diagnosed mental health condition. Therapy can help you develop coping skills, improve relationships, and enhance overall well-being.
However, if you plan to pay for therapy using insurance, we will need to prove the necessity of our services, which will require assigning a diagnostic code to your case. -
Not exactly. Functional Health & Psychiatry looks at how mood, sleep, stress, medications, medical history, hormones, pain, and nervous-system patterns may overlap. Therapy may still be part of care when appropriate, but the goal is to look at the full clinical picture.
-
Insurance may apply when care is medically necessary and covered by your plan. Our team can review your insurance information before scheduling whenever possible. Some services may be self-pay if they are not covered by insurance.
-
No. The Associates practice starts with clinical care. No package is required to request an appointment or insurance verification.
